The Gladwin Family

We have been at Nutbourne for over 30 years and are still very much involved in day-to-day life of the estate. When you visit, you might see Peter leading your tour and tasting, Bridget arranging flowers or hosting the cellar door, Gregory in the Winery or on a tractor, Oliver cooking in the outdoor kitchen or Richard serving wine with Local & Wild food at one of our special events.

Together the family grow, tend, harvest, bottle and sell their Nutbourne wines – living the dream!

  • Peter Gladwin refuses to call himself a businessman and prefers chef, writer or vineyard worker! Peter's main career was in the hospitality sector. He remains chairman of the Gladwin Restaurant Group and he has published 6 cookery books, including his latest work, An English Vineyard Cookbook.

Favourite Nutbourne wine: Nutty Vintage Brut - as Madame Bollinger would say, a drink for all occasions!

  • Bridget Gladwin heads up the vineyard team and is the front face of the Nutbourne brand. She does this alongside her work as an artist - her much admired paintings are featured on many of our wine labels, as well as the walls of the winery and our London restaurants.

Favourite Nutbourne wine: Our delicious field blend Sussex Reserve, my essential Desert Island luxury!

  • Gregory Gladwin is a farmer, tending to his cattle and sheep in the early morning before heading to the vineyard to manage the vines and winemaking. His meats, plants and produce from the poly-tunnel
are on sale at the cellar door shop, alongside the wines.

Favourite Nutbourne wine: Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is a fine complex wine with great fruit and
a delightful honeyed finish - I'm very proud to have made it.

  • Richard Gladwin runs the Local & Wild restaurants in London, together with his brother Oliver. From Wimbledon Village to Soho, these renowned establishments combine the taste of the English countryside with warm friendly
ambiance and, of course, great wine.

Favourite Nutbourne wine: Every time I taste our still red Pinot Noir I'm delighted by the depth of fruit and delicate spice.

  • Oliver Gladwin is the wonderfully creative chef who designs fantastic seasonal dishes and recipes for our restaurants, picnics and events. He can often be found in the woodland at Nutbourne, foraging for special, wild ingredients.

Favourite Nutbourne wine: There's nothing better than a glass of aromatic, grassy Bacchus with freshly picked English asparagus - “what grows together goes together”.
